Toyota Sienta launched in Japan

The all-new offering comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of technologies such as Pre-collision Safety System and Proactive Driving Assist.The Japanese automaker’s newest offering for its home country “combines the convenience of a minivan, with a spacious cabin and seating for seven passengers, into a compact body size.”
In a statement, TMC said that the all-new Toyota Sienta is the nameplate’s third-generation offering. The premier edition was introduced back in September 2003.
“Each generation of the Sienta has provided solid support for family life by remaining consistently close to Japanese families and carrying a deep understanding of changing customer values from the very first generation. This consideration in design has earned driver loyalty and passenger admiration,” TMC said.
The company said that the development of the new model was based on customer feedback.
“The conclusion they reached was preserving the vehicle's easy-to-manage length, latest safety and security features, fuel economy, and affordable price while further refining the user-friendly cabin space preserved from the first generation. The team has ensured a cabin space that seven adults can ride in without changing the length and width, making it a better companion that matches customer lifestyles. The second-row seats, where most passengers sit, have been re-designed to provide more spacious rear seat space for both legroom and head clearance. In addition, the new Sienta adopts a revamped powertrain that achieves both fuel economy and driving performance through TNGA, as well as the latest safety and security features in support of family drives. The consideration that has been added to the new Sienta will bring smiles to the faces of the whole family,” TMC noted.
Toyota calls the design concept for the exterior “Shikakumaru” circle and square design, with its rounded corners that create a compact appearance. It is engineered to have a large cabin with a horizontal beltline and large windows.
The same styling can be found in the interiors — as seen on the dashboard, the air-conditioning vents, cupholders as well as the other nooks and crannies within the cabin.
According Toyota, the cabin height increased by 20mm and the second-row leg room grew 80mm more compared to its predecessor. The rear hatch door opening height has increased by 15 mm while the luggage space height went up by 20mm.
The vehicle comes with ceiling air circulator and sun shades on sliding doors.
Powering the all-new Toyota Sienta are either a 1.5-liter Dynamic Force Engine (M20A-FKS) for the hybrid system with E-Four system (capable of 28.8 kilometers per liter efficiency rating, under Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Cycles [WLTC> standards) or a 1.5-liter Dynamic Force Engine (M15A-FKS) paired to a direct shift-continuously variable transmission with 10-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic (which can do 18.3 kpl).
Moreover, the all-new offering comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of technologies such as Pre-collision Safety System and Proactive Driving Assist.
