Toyota has been flipping its vehicles in the ASEAN region, treating them to various updates like the recent series of GR-specs upgrade it did to most of its nameplates.
In Thailand, the latest to get the refresh is the Toyota Vios (called Yaris Ativ in that market).
The updated Vios receives minor exterior revisions including a glossy black front grille with horizontal line design, new side and rear skirts, black side mirror caps, 15-inch black brushed alloy wheels, and a gloss black roof.
Inside, the refreshed Vios gets a 6.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Thai customers also get the option of getting sport leather and synthetic leather seats. They also get an Optitron fluorescent gauge with a 4.2-inch TFT color driving information display.
Powering the Thai-spec Vios is a 1.2-liter, Dual VVT-i four-cylinder mill. According to Toyota Indonesia, the gasoline powerplant will be mated to a super CVT-i automatic transmission with shift lock and S-mode function.
This setup makes a little over 90hp and 109Nm of torque.
Our local version of the popular sedan is powered by a 1.3- or a 1.5-liter engine that can put out a maximum power output that’s anywhere between 98 to 105 horses.
Should Toyota Motor Philippines, Inc. (TMP) decide to adopt the update, we can expect our version of the refreshed Vios to retain these engine options.
When it comes to safety, Thailand’s Toyota Vios offers a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, hill climb assist, and a slew of airbags, among others.
It is currently offered in Entry, Sport, Sport Premium, and Sport Premium (two-tone) variants. Pricing starts from THB539,000.
