The Indonesian arm of Toyota appears to be poised for the forthcoming launch of the hybrid version of the Innova multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
On Toyota Indonesia’s official website (picture above) is a photo of what many believe is the nameplate’s electrified silhouette.
Furthermore, Toyota Indonesia’s official Facebook page also posted the same photo, captioned: “the new energy is coming.”
Despite the tell-tale signs that point to the hybrid MPV’s arrival in the country, Toyota Indonesia has been tight-fisted about the Innova hybrid’s specifications. All we know so far is that the electrically-assisted iteration of the popular model will be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), a platform dedicated to the brand’s electrified models.
In the Philippines, Toyota’s offerings that are built on the TNGA platform are the hybrid versions of the RAV4, Camry, and Altis. It is also used by the locally available Corolla Cross and Prius. On that note, we won’t be surprised to see Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) bring the Innova hybrid to the local automotive scene.
Should TMP decide to introduce the Innova hybrid in the Philippines, it will go toe-to-toe with the recently previewed Ertiga Hybrid MPV from Suzuki.
