Toyota unveils new Crown line, shares details of Crown Crossover
Toyota unveiled the new Crown series last Friday, July 15. In a virtual world premiere held on Toyota’s website, the automotive brand revealed four body types that the Crown nameplate will come in: a crossover, a sporty hatchback, a sedan, and a station wagon.

The Crown Crossover will be the first model from the series to be rolled out. In Japan, it is expected to be released later this year.“In designing the new Crown, the development team thoroughly reexamined what ‘Crown’ is, and as a result of their pursuit of a ‘Crown for a new era,’ they have created four completely new models,” Toyota said in a recent press release.

The crossover will feature a style that combines a sedan and an SUV. The exterior boasts a stylish coupe-like silhouette. Notable design elements include its headlights and taillights that are connected from left to right in a single straight line as well as its large-diameter tires that make the vehicle a sight for modern minimalists.
Inside, the Crown Crossover offers a similarly minimal layout with most of the controls placed within the reach of the driver. While Toyota is yet to reveal the full specifications of the Japanese-spec Crown Crossover, published pictures reveal that it will have a large infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, and an eye-catching steering wheel with a stylish Crown emblem.
Toyota said that its Japanese customers can get the Crown Crossover in 12 exterior colors and four interior colors.
The Crown Crossover can also be had in two powertrain options: one 2.4-liter Turbo Hybrid System and the other is a 2.5-liter Series Parallel Hybrid System.
It is equipped with the latest version of Toyota Sense which includes pre-crash safety, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, radar cruise control, road sign assist, and lane change assist among others.
It will also come with the Toyota Teammate driver-assistance technologies like Advance Drive (a feature that helps drivers safely navigate in traffic congestion) and Advanced Park (a feature that allows the Crown Crossover to automatically park and exit from a parking space).
The Toyota Crown Crossover will come in three variants: Crossover X, Crossover G, and Crossover RS.
The base Crossover X model will be equipped with the 2.5-liter Series Parallel Hybrid System and will be priced at ¥4,350,000. The Crossover G, on the other hand, will sport a similar Series Parallel Hybrid System and will set Japanese car buyers back ¥4,750,000 to ¥5,400,000. Lastly, the range-topping Crossover RS will be fitted with a 2.4-liter Turbo Hybrid System. It will be priced from ¥6,050,000 to ¥6,400,000.
