Toyota Thailand gave the Fortuner nameplate a mild update that translated to better power, suspension, and interior amenities.
In the Land of the Smiles, the Toyota Fortuner gets more power, thanks to an upgrade that took the range-topping Gazoo Racing Sport (GR-S) variant’s power to approximately 220 horses. Likewise, the maximum torque of its 2.8-liter powerplant also increased to 550 Newton-meters.
While the engine update was only reserved for the top-of-the-line variant, other Toyota Fortuner trims like the “Legender” — also known here in the Philippines as the LTD grade — benefited from special suspension setups.
In the case of the said model, it received a double wishbone (with coil spring and torsion bar with shock absorber) setup at the front and a four-link (with coil spring and torsion bar with shock absorbers) arrangement at the rear.
On the other hand, the GR-S variant got a setup that consists of a double wishbone (with coil spring and torsion bar with monotube shock absorber) system as well as a four-link (with coil spring and torsion bar with monotube shock absorbers) format.
As for the improved interior amenities, the two aforementioned Thai-spec Toyota Fortuner grades now sport a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
It is possible that these updates might soon find their way into local-available Toyota Fortuner models. When can we expect it to happen? Well, Toyota Motor Philippines appears to still be busy with back-to-back releases of the all-new Wigo and the Yaris Cross so fans of the nameplate might still have some waiting to do.
But when that happens, rest assured that we’ll immediately deliver the news, here in Carmudi Philippines.
