The United States (US) arm of Toyota has just unveiled the 2023 Prius sedan, which the company claims can put out as much as 220 horsepower (hp).
Propelled by the automaker’s fifth-generation hybrid powertrain comprised of a 2.0-liter engine and a newly developed lithium-ion battery, the 2023 Toyota Prius sheds the soccer mom image and boasts enough power to reportedly take the electrified sedan from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 6.8 seconds.
Toyota also announced that the US-spec 2023 Prius will be offered in three variants: SE, XSE, and XSE Premium.
The base model comes standard with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels with wheel covers, an eight-inch touchscreen audio multimedia system, six USB ports, Softex and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Traffic Jam Assist.
It can be optioned with Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking (PA w/AB).
Meanwhile, the XSE grade builds from the standard features of the aforementioned SE model and adds things like a clear taillight, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, two additional cup holders for rear seat passengers, driver and passenger heated seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, perforated SofTex sport seats with red accents, wireless charger, direct light illumination, Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking (PA w/AB), and Traffic Jam Assist.
Optional add-ons for the XSE include a 12.3-inch audio multimedia touchscreen and a fixed glass roof.
Finally, the range-topping XSE Premium trim gets all of the XSE grade’s standard features and adds a power back door, driver and passenger heated and ventilated seats with memory feature, as well as a 12.3-inch audio multimedia touchscreen and a fixed glass roof.
Available features include a digital rearview mirror, rear seat heater, a panoramic View Monitor, and a solar glass roof.
Price and on-sale date of the exciting, all-new Prius Prime will be announced in the first half of 2023.
