Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) removed two options in its Vios roster.
On its website, the country’s leading automotive manufacturer only offers six options under the subcompact sedan summed up in the following: J, XE, XLE, and G.
Those who are following the brand would notice that the E and the Gazoo Racing Sport (GR-S) are no longer found in the lineup.
In an interview, TMP Vice President for Marketing Service Elvin Luciano verified the removal of the two Vios variants in the local roster, saying that it is part of the company’s “regular product lineup streamlining” initiatives.
To note, the Toyota Vios J, XE, XLE options are all powered by 1.3-liter engines. Meanwhile, the units under G variations come with 1.5-liter powertrains.
Further, the entry-level Toyota J variant offers a five-speed gearbox, the XE solely in continuous variable transmission (CVT), and the XLE and G is being retailed in either CVT or manual slushbox.
Their wheel options range from 14-inch steelies (found on the J and XE), to 15-inch (XLE) and 16-inch alloys (G).
Meanwhile, the Toyota Vios E (which comes in both manual and continuous variable transmission) is outfitted with a 1.3-liter gasoline mill while the former crème-dela-crème GR-S variant comes with a 1.5-liter powertrain on a CVT.
Last year, Toyota Vios customers had 10 options.
Generally, the Japanese automotive marque’s five-seater car is 4,420 millimeters (mm) long, 1,730 mm wide, and 1,475 mm tall with a 2,550 mm wheelbase. Stopping power of the lower variants are from the ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum at the rear while the higher versions are fitted with ventilated discs on all four wheels.
