A Track-Ready Hummer H1? Sign Us Up!
The Hummer may have been discontinued eight years ago, but the world's love affair with this gas-guzzling behemoth is far from over. Mil-Spec, a company that restores and modifies iconic vehicles, built a Hummer H1 that’s big, brash, and racetrack-ready.
Actually, the panels are the only thing H1 about it. Using a four-door Duramax pickup truck as its base, Mil-Spec then built its one-off H1 from the ground up using custom coilovers with stiff springs a lowered suspension (a whopping seven inches less than a standard H1), six-piston brake calipers, and low-profile Pirelli P-Zero tires. Even more impressive, Mil-Spec left the parttime four-wheel-drive system of the base truck intact after revising the entire suspension geometry. Though the company didn't divulge the make and model of the base truck, the engine is a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 that's been tuned to output 800 hp and 2,034 Nm of torque.
Unfortunately, the truck is not for sale, and the company has no plans of churning out track-oriented H1s any time soon.
