The TVS Ronin has three variants: TVS Ronin SS, TVS Ronin DS, and the TVS Ronin TD.What powers the TVS Ronin?
The Indian-spec Ronin is powered by a 225.9cc engine mated to a five-speed transmission.According to TVS, the Ronin was designed specifically for modern, new-age riders and features the perfect combination of style, riding comfort, and technology, perfect for those who live an “unscripted” lifestyle.
“The launch of the new TVS Ronin is a significant milestone for TVS Motor. The TVS Ronin motorcycle is designed from a blank canvas to be a reflection of the spontaneous, fluidic, versatile, and multi-faceted young rider of today. It is designed to create an effortless and ‘unscripted’ riding experience. True to the TVS brand it has cutting-edge technology and connectivity. TVS Ronin is a lifestyle partner complete with an exclusive range of merchandise and accessories, a riding community, and an effortless customization process,” said TVS Motor Company Managing Director Sudarshan Venu.
At the fore is a large circular LED headlamp with a T-shaped signature position lamp flanked by two LED turn signals. Sticking out from between the handlebars is its digital speedometer, that on the range-topping variant, is capable of turn-by-turn navigation, voice assist, receiving calls, and providing owners with ride analysis via the TVS Connect App.
Past the 14-liter gas tank is the retro seat that will come in either black or a combination of brown and black depending on the variant. At the rear is a sleek thin LED taillight bordered by two LED signal lights on each side.
The TVS Ronin rides on 17-inch nine-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with tubeless tires. Suspension-wise, it features 41mm gold suspension at the front and a mono-shock with a seven-step adjustable preload system at the rear.
It is propelled by an oil-cooled 225.9cc engine mated to a five-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. This setup makes a little over 20 horses with almost 20Nm of torque. Stopping power comes from 300mm disc brakes at the front and 240mm disc brakes at the rear. The TVS Ronin features ABS with Rain and Urban modes.
“Motorcycling at the global level is changing. It is moving from serving a functional purpose to enabling self-expression, freedom, and the willingness to explore. Inspired by our customers’ need to chart ‘unscripted’ journeys, the TVS Ronin will carve a new segment based on an emerging lifestyle free from stereotypes, dated codes, and legacy baggage. This is thereby transforming the premiumization into personalization more and more, creating a trend in the two-wheeler segment. The motorcycle will bring a premium lifestyle experience for our customers, offering a differentiated brand ecosystem. I am sure our customers would appreciate the distinctive riding character of this motorcycle,” said TVS Motor Company Premium Division Head Vimal Sumbly.
The TVS Ronin is available in three variants: TVS Ronin SS, TVS Ronin DS, and the top variant, TVS Ronin TD. It will be available in select dealerships across India starting July 2022.
TVS is still yet to announce whether they will bring the Ronin to Philippine shores. Should they do, it will face tough competition in the likes of similar retro-styled small-displacement bikes such as the Yamaha XSR, Kawasaki W175, and the expressway-legal Bristol 400i.
