More areas around the world are already enjoying the updated version of the Kia Seltos and Carmudi Philippines expressed firm belief that it is high time for the offering to reach Philippine roads.
The nameplate’s spruced-up version has finally reached the European market following its global debut in July last year.
Bringing in the new Kia Seltos to the local market seems to be in order as no updates were made since its local debut in November 2019.
Apart from that, Kia Philippines President Emmanuel Aligada declared during the inauguration of the AC Motor Centrale that the Ayala-backed company will unveil a new model soon. According to him, the model will feature the brand’s advanced technology and innovation. No other details were disclosed after that.
According to the Korean automotive brand, the new Kia Seltos showcases the company’s “Opposites United” design motif with its sharpened, futuristic design, giving the vehicle a bolstered presence on the road.
For its exterior, the new Kia Seltos boasts a larger tiger nose grille flanked by LED headlamps and a rear illumination that looks similar to the front signature lighting. Wheel sizes vary from 17-18 inches, with their corresponding distinct designs.
Further, the new Kia Seltos comes with a standard panoramic screen display that integrates the instrument cluster and center display. A 4.2-inch instrument cluster with digital gauges paired with eight-inch center display is fitted as standard, while the bigger 10.25-inch instrument cluster matched to a 10.25-inch center display is optional.
Further, the European-spec new Kia Seltos is offered in two engine options: the 1.6-liter turbo GDI four-cylinder mill (that can deliver as much as 195 horsepower [hp> and a little over 254 Newton-meters [Nm> of pulling power) and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain (able to provide 146hp and nearly 179Nm mated to an Intelligent Variable Transmission.
To note, the Kia Seltos currently offered in the country comes with a 2.0-liter mill that has a little more power compared to the new one (147hp).
The aforementioned model features active on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD) with a center locking differential, as well as torque vectoring system designed to increase traction by predicting which wheel will best utilize power, enhancing stability in corners, and giving the vehicle more precise handling dynamics in numerous situations.
Further, the new Seltos is also equipped with a smart power liftgate and three standard USB ports.
Moreover, the vehicle also has a myriad of standard advanced driver assistance systems namely the driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane following assist, rear view monitor, and rear occupant alert.
In addition, select trims of the new Kia Seltos are offered with safe exit warning; rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist; forward collision avoidance assist with junction turning, pedestrian and cyclist detection; smart cruise control with stop- and-go function; navigation-based smart cruise control; highway driving assist; blind spot collision warning; intelligent speed limit assist; and intelligent speed limit warning.
