In the United States, Lexus has updated the UX with new interior and exterior color combinations.
"Guests can express themselves with the addition of exterior colors like Grecian Water and Cloudburst Gray and extend the paint all the way to the wheel well with color-keyed overfenders," Lexus USA said. The new UX colors also include Sonic Chrome and Cadium Orange.
Inside, Grecian Water can be paired with colors such as Black, Birch and Birch with Lapis.
The UX is available in two powertrains: the front-wheel drive UX 200 is powered by a two-liter engine coupled to a 10-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the all-wheel drive UX 250h pairs an even higher-efficiency version of the 2.0-liter gas engine with a fourth-generation hybrid drive system engineered specifically for this platform.
The new UX also features an available hands-free, foot-activated power rear door to make loading cargo into the UX more convenient. Standard solid aluminum roof rails allow installation of a variety of accessory carriers.
Once the tailgate is closed, the UX's full-width taillights that are formed by a sequence of 120 LEDs tapering toward the center, can be seen better. Lexus said the LEDs measure just 1.8 inches thin at their narrowest point.
The UX's interior packs what Lexus called "seat-in control" seats. That means "critical vehicle functions" are grouped within the driver’s side of the cabin, and the seatback shape allows the driver to operate the switches while maintaining a comfortable, natural posture.
Those front seats can be power adjusted eight ways, with adjustable lumbar support for the driver, as well as manual forward and backward adjustment for the headrests. Front seat cushions use springs and foam specially designed with the occupants’ sciatic area in mind.
With Lexus Climate Concierge of the UX, heating and cooling airflow are automatically linked with the heated and ventilated seats to optimize interior temperature comfort.
