Lexus announced that it will be updating the US-spec 2023 UX crossover. Enhancements, per Toyota’s luxury division, will bring “urban dweller style and improved driving dynamics for the upcoming model year.”
The abovementioned enhancements cover various aspects of the vehicle beginning with performance. In the US, where the UX will be offered only in hybrid guise, the SUV is set to offer a more refined driving performance through updates to steering response, handling stability, and refined ride quality.
In addition, the Lexus UX’s structural rigidity is improved by adding 20 spot welding points on the body. Lexus adds that its electronic power steering and shock absorbers were re-calibrated to better suit its more rigid body.
Furthermore, Lexus said that it achieved improved noise and vibration reduction with the UX by outfitting it with a set of newly developed Bridgestone 18-inch run-flat tires.
Lexus also added a few new touches to the UX’s multimedia system. The hybrid crossover SUV now packs a new, state-of-the-art Lexus Interface multimedia system, with a larger, higher-resolution touchscreen display. The new multimedia system presents a re-envisioned user experience for UX drivers and passengers.
Standard will be an eight-inch (12.3-inch optional) infotainment system mounted closer to the driver. It boasts a higher resolution and smartphone-like anti-glare technology.
The new Lexus Interface also incorporates a new Voice Assistant available through voice activation or accessible via a button on the steering wheel. It allows dual Bluetooth phone connectivity, with support for standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Additionally, the US-spec 2023 Lexus UX will have a larger wireless charging pad with LED lighting and two USB charging connectors in the front of the console.
In terms of safety, Lexus gives the hybrid UX a host of features including the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 preventive safety technology, which now comes as standard.
The said preventive safety system comes with an enhanced Pre-Collision System (PCS), Emergency Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), among others.
Lexus also said that a special F Sport model will be made available. It will feature F Sport wheels, grille, dark roof rails, a black roof, moonroof, rain-sensing wipers, fog and cornering lamps, automatic headlamp leveling, and painted wheel arch molding.
When it comes to performance, the F Sport model will come with F Sport Handling package which has standard performance dampers and an Active Variable Suspension (AVS). Steering response is further improved by adding a brace to the steering gear.
Inside, those opting for the F Sport model with F Sport Handling package can expect to get an aluminum footrest and scuff plate, as well as F Sport-exclusive sport seats, steering wheel, shift knob, meters, and aluminum sports pedals.
The F Sport variant also adds other interior amenities such as heated and ventilated memory F Sport seats, a digital key, and automatic dimming side and rear-view mirrors.
The hybrid US-spec UX crossover SUV will be on sale in late summer 2022, probably around August and September.
