Moto Italia Philippines, Inc., the authorized distributor of Vespa scooters in the country and a subsidiary of the Autohub Group, recently brought in a very special Vespa model that the Italian brand itself has labeled it as the "most exclusive and most valuable Vespa.
Built in collaboration between the Piaggio Group and (RED), a brand-licensing company founded by U2 frontman Bono and philanthropist Bobby Shriver which raises money to help combat AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria as epidemics, the (Vespa 946) Red is an all-red 2017 version of the original MP6 Vespa scooter prototype produced in 1946, hence the moniker.
As previously mentioned, the (RED) organization is a brand-licensing company and it works by partnering with iconic brands that contribute up to 50 percent of its profits from (RED)-branded goods and services to help fund, well, the Global Fund which, in turn, works with governments, civil society, the private sector, and people affected by HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
In the (Vespa 946) Red's case, $150 American dollars will be donated to the Global Fund for each unit sold, guaranteeing "over 500 days' worth of life-saving medical treatments for HIV and help prevent mothers infected with the virus from passing it on to their unborn children."
Like all Vespas, the bodywork of the (Vespa 946) Red is made of steel though it has also been embellished with aluminum components like the mudguard and side covers. Riding on 12-inch wheels front and back, the scooter also has aluminum alloy detachable rims. Powered by an air-cooled 125 cc single-cylinder, three-valve four-stroke engine, the (Vespa 946) Red is stopped by a double disc-type brake system and a dual-channel Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). The scooter is also equipped with innovative ASR traction control, an advanced electronic system that prevents the rear wheel from skidding and lose grip, ensuring superior traction at all times.
A wide range of lifestyle products are also available for owners of the (Vespa 946) Red, like a leather case to fit in the rear luggage rack, a special top fairing, the (RED) helmet, t-shirt, tote bag, and mug to match. Of course, we don't have to say that, like the scooter, these products are all only available in red--the color, not the oranization.
The (Vespa 946) Red is now available in Moto Italia Philippines' Ortigas Avenue or Bonifacio Global City showrooms for P777,000.
