Volkswagen ID.5 GTX to appear at Munich auto show
Volkswagen recently announced that the ID.5 GTX is set to make an appearance at the upcoming IAA Munich Motor Show.
According to VW, the ID.5 GTX will be introduced as a “disguised concept” at the 2021 International Motor Show Germany which will take place from September 7 to September 12.
The ID.5 GTX will be the first electric SUV to feature a coupe silhouette which translates to fluid lines that are both elegant and sporty. The ID.5 GTX will be based on the Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) all-electric architecture and will be equipped with VW’s Car2X technology.
Outside, the ID.5 GTX sports the IQ.Light LED matrix headlights with a light strip that tapers toward the Volkswagen logo that features three powerful, illuminated honeycomb elements.
Giving the ID.5 GTX its elegant appearance are the sloping A-pillars that have been positioned near the front. As a result, the SUV coupe enjoys a low roofline that stretches over the body and tapers out in an integrated rear spoiler.
At the rear, the ID.5 GTX features LED rear lights with a 3D design complemented by a light strip and horizontal lines.
Volkswagen also says that the ID.5 GTX will be powered by an electric engine on both the front and rear axles of the SUV coupe. The dual-engine four-wheel-drive, said VW, guarantees strong driving performance, superior traction, and sporty handling.
The German automaker has not yet revealed the numbers concerning the EV SUV but they confirmed that the large lithium-ion battery between the axles enables a projected range of up to 497km.
The ID.5 GTX is set to arrive in dealers next year.
