Volkswagen Philippines has collaborated with the Ateneo Blue Eagles for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 3x3 Basketball Tournament.
Under the said partnership, the athletes will drive the T-Cross and Lamando to and from games set for today until Sunday at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
“Volkswagen Philippines proudly supports the Ateneo Men’s and Women’s 3x3 Basketball Teams in UAAP Season 86,” Volkswagen Philippines Chief Operating Officer Josh Altarejos was quoted as saying.
“The Ateneo Basketball team’s pursuit of excellence is a trait Volkswagen’s German-engineered lineup equally projects. With the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ championship pedigree, we are confident that they will positively impact the sport this year, in the same way the Volkswagen brand creates fun and memorable experiences for its owners everywhere,” he added.
For his part, Ateneo Athletic Director Emmanuel Fernandez was thankful for the team-up.
“The 3x3 Basketball Tournament highlights a different way of playing the country’s most popular sport. Driving worry-free to and from the games with the three stand-out and stylish Volkswagen models will give them the additional confidence they need going into the tournament. Together with Volkswagen Philippines, we aim to embody excellence in our game this year,” he explained.
According to the Ayala-backed automotive distributor, the Volkswagen T-Cross is an “ideal ride for the youthful and energetic Ateneo Blue Eagles”, saying that its “everyday practicality is matched by a unique and distinctive design that combines European maturity with modern dynamism and a desire for adventure.”
The small sport utility vehicle has the capability to haul 329-1,319 liters inside it cabin while its host of features include an Apple CarPlay-ready 9.2-inch infotainment system, Active Info Display for the driver, and USB-C ports for rear passengers, just below the rear air conditioning vents.
Powering the Volkswagen T-Cross is a 1.5-liter 180 MPI BlueMotion engine that can dish out as much as 111 horsepower (hp) and 145 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
The Volkswagen T-Cross 180 MPI AT SE is being retailed for P1.34 million.
On the other hand, Volkswagen Philippines claimed that the Lamando is a perfect match for the Ateneo Blue Eagles as it is an executive sedan that “exudes success and celebrates accomplishments.”
Under the hood of the German-engineered vehicle is a 1.4-liter turbocharged 280 TSI mill that has a maximum output of 148 hp and 250 Nm. It is paired to a seven-speed direct shift gearbox.
Among the features that can be found in the car are the leather seats, Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning system (with pollen filter) adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof.
Offered in two trims (SE and SEL), the Volkswagen Lamando 280 TSI DSG can be had for P1.619 million-P1.753 million.
