Volkswagen has unveiled the revamped version of the T-Cross sport utility vehicle (SUV) prior to the scheduled start of pre-sales within the year.
Sporting a more mature design, new T-Cross will come with a revamped design, enhanced standard equipment, new technologies, and un updated cabin. According to the Wolfsburg-headquartered marque, the pre-selling of the updated T-Cross will commence in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The new Volkswagen T-Cross dropped halogen bulbs for its lighting systems as soon-to-be-retailed model will be wearing newly-designed integrated headlights, daytime running lights, and taillight clusters that are all on LED. In addition, the company said that the vehicle will have three new color options namely Grape Yellow, Clear Blue Metallic, and Kings Red Metallic.
Inside the new Volkswagen T-Cross are a free-standing infotainment system (eight-inch display for the base trim while 9.2-inch for top-of-the-line option), and a redesigned dashboard panel and door trims (now with soft-upholstered materials).
In addition, the five-seater crossover has the capacity to fit up to 2,398 liters of cargo (all but the driver seat folded).
Further, Volkswagen noted that the upcoming offering will feature the Travel Assist system for greater longitudinal and lateral vehicle control. Depending on the traffic ahead and the permitted speed, the T-Cross can control the vehicle’s speed with automatic acceleration and braking.
“Within the system limits, Travel Assist can also include speed limits, bends, and roundabouts in its control interventions. At the same time, Lane Assist can help to keep the vehicle in its lane,” Volkswagen noted.
Also, the forthcoming Volkswagen T-Cross will include a multifunction camera, dynamic road sign display, as well as a digital cockpit.
Meanwhile, the Ayala-backed Volkswagen Philippines has yet to announce if it would bring the said iteration for the local market.
The locally available version of the T-Cross is powered by a 180 MPI with Bluemotion engine matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox. It is currently priced at P1.34 million.
