How many LED lights are used by the new Volkswagen IQ.Light HD matrix headlights?
Per Volkswagen, the new brand’s IQ.Light HD matrix headlights use 38,400 micro LED lights. Before being permitted in Europe, in what markets was the illuminated “VW” badge permitted?
The illuminated rear “VW” emblem was only permitted in markets such as China and the United States before it was allowed in Europe. The German automotive brand revealed that the new Touareg is fitted with the newly developed IQ.Light HD matrix headlights integrated with new LED light strips, most likely similar to the ones found on the Volkswagen Amarok.
Volkswagen explained that the new IQ.Light HD matrix headlights use 38,400 micro LED lights that are significantly brighter than conventional headlamps. Further, the Wolfsburg-based car brand said that these lights do not dazzle incoming traffic.
In addition, 19,200 micro-LED lights are distributed over the new headlights on each side of the vehicle. The matrix system projects an interactive “lane light” that illuminates the path for drivers at night.
And while we’re on the topic of illumination, Volkswagen said that the rear of the new Touareg SUV comes with an illuminated “VW” badge. The red “VW” emblem, which was previously allowed only in markets such as China and the United States, is now permitted on European roads.
The new Volkswagen Touareg is equipped with an improved chassis. One of its features, per Volkswagen, is a roof load sensor networked with the chassis electronics. When a food box is installed the sensor recognizes this and passes this information on to assistance systems such as the electronic stability control. This increases the driving stability of the Touareg.
The standard steel spring running gear and the optional two-chamber air suspension running gear have also been given a new setup to achieve an even larger bandwidth between maximum comfort and optimum performance.
Volkswagen also updated the interior of the new Touareg. According to the carmaker, the SUV is outfitted with the brand’s Innovision Cockpit. It features a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-functional steering wheel, and analog elements, such as the volume control in the center console.
Through it, soon-to-be owners can enjoy driver-assist features like lane-precise navigation and high-resolution HD map data. Voice control has also been further developed. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Volkswagen added that the designers of the Touareg SUV made the armrests and the center console panel of the vehicle softer.
The automotive marque confirmed that the new Volkswagen Touareg will make its debut later this year.
