What powers the Volvo EX90?
The Volvo EX90 is powered by a 111 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery and two permanent magnet electric motors. How much power does the Volvo EX90 make?
The Volvo EX90 makes 517 hp and 910Nm of torque.“The Volvo EX90 is a statement for where we are, and where we are going,” said Volvo Cars Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jim Rowan.
“It’s fully electric with a range of up to 600 kilometers on a single charge, designed to further raise our safety standards, the first Volvo car to be truly defined by its software and part of a wider ecosystem, connecting to your home and your other devices. The Volvo EX90 is the start of something new for Volvo Cars in many ways,” the chief executive added.
One of the features of the Volvo EX90 includes its state-of-the-art sensors. Cameras, radars, and LiDAR technology help monitor not only the vehicle’s surroundings but also the driver behind the wheel. They are connected to the car’s high-performance computers where Nvidia Drive artificial intelligence (AI) platforms Xavier and Orin, Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, and a Volvo Cars-developed software run the core functions.
The Volvo EX90 is also designed to support its owners’ sustainable lifestyles. The EV SUV can go as far as 600 kilometers (km) on a single charge based on Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standards.
It is powered by a 111 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery and two permanent magnet electric motors that deliver 517 horsepower (hp) and 910Nm of torque.
Furthermore, the Volvo EX90 contains approximately 15 percent recycled steel, 25 percent recycled aluminum as well as 48 kilograms (kg) of recycled plastics and bio-based materials, which corresponds to around 15 percent of the total plastic used in the car — the highest level of any Volvo car to date.
Finally, the Volvo EX90 is the company’s first car with all the necessary hardware to enable bi-directional charging. It’s a technology that allows owners to use their car battery as an extra energy supply. Bi-directional charging, per Volvo Cars, will soon be made available in select regions.
Volvo Cars revealed its new fully electric flagship SUV to the world in downtown Stockholm yesterday. Reservations are being accepted with deliveries expected to commence in early 2024.
