Volvo C40 Recharge earns 2022 Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced the results of its recent Top Safety Pick+ awards and among the awardees is the fully electric Volvo C40 Recharge compact SUV.

The Volvo C40 Recharge earned Good ratings in crashworthiness and headlight evaluation, Superior rating in vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention, and an Advanced rating in vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention.To earn a Top Safety Pick+ award evaluated vehicles must score Good ratings in six crashworthiness tests, Superior or Advanced ratings in crash avoidance and mitigation tests, and must have Good or Acceptable headlight systems.
On that note, the Volvo C40 Recharge was rated Good in terms of crashworthiness (small overlap front: driver-side, small overlap front: passenger-side, moderate overlap front, side: original test, roof strength, and head restraints and seats) and in headlight evaluation.
It scored a Superior rating in vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and an Advanced rating in vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention.

According to Volvo Cars, the brand’s vision is that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. This drives the Swedish automaker’s continued innovation of new safety features, including a speed cap in cars, run-off road protection, and redesigned advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Part of the Volvo C40 Recharge’s suite of safety features is a 360-degree view monitor, cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, a blind spot information system, lane assist, collision avoidance systems, and an advanced body structure designed to help protect all occupants in a collision.
The C40 Recharge features all the benefits of an SUV with a sleek, low-profile design and incorporates an intuitive, built-in Google infotainment experience. It is also the first Volvo in company history designed as pure electric-only and the first to feature a leather-free interior. The C40 Recharge is the latest manifestation of Volvo’s commitment to a zero-emission future, with a goal to be a fully electric car company by 2030.
