Volvo highlights electrification efforts
Volvo shared that the company has made strides in electrification even before electric vehicles (EV) became mainstream.

According to Volvo Philippines, it will bring two fully-electric models in the country this year.Understanding that cars are part of the ecological problem, Volvo owned up to its responsibility and started its journey to becoming climate neutral early on.
That said , Volvo committed to all-out electrification in 2017, making the Swedish automotive brand the first carmaker to announce such an undertaking.
“We recognize that we, as a mobility provider, are part of the climate change problem. However, we at Volvo also know that we can do our share and be part of the solution,” Volvo Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla was quoted saying.
Additionally, Volvo also vowed on putting one million electrified Volvo automobiles by 2025.
On its way to achieving an ambitious feat, Volvo began by making all its models available in an electrified variant. The Gothernburg-based brand even released all-electric models in line with its electrification efforts such as the EX90 and the upcoming EX30.
In the Philippines, Volvo was the first premium car brand to offer plug-in hybrid models. Now, locally-available models like the XC40, XC60, XC90, and S90 are being offered with hybrid powertrains. Additionally, the brand’s local arm is set to introduce two pure electric models within the year.
“It is good that the automotive industry is following Volvo’s lead in making significant steps to address current mobility concerns. Volvo Cars is acknowledged for our industry-leading commitment to an electric future. In line with this, locally, we will once again move the brand forward towards its vision by introducing two pure electric vehicles in the second half of 2023,” the Volvo Philippines’ chief executive added.
