Released in 2017, the Volvo XC40 offered a fresh, creative, and distinctive addition to the Swedish carmaker’s lineup. Fast forward to 2022, the compact luxury crossover SUV is now an award-winning staple and a Volvo best-seller.
To reinforce its cutting-edge design and modern statement, designers of the Torslanda-based automotive brand have given the entire XC40 line a facelift. At the front are the new bumper and frameless grille plate. They are flanked by the signature Thor’s Hammer headlights, which are upgraded with state-of-the-art pixel LED light technology, enabling them to automatically adapt to traffic in front and efficiently light up the road ahead without dazzling other drivers.
In addition, customers will receive premium leather-free upholstery options in the pure electric XC40 Recharge, as well as new exterior colors and rims, offering further possibilities for personalization.
“As we move toward becoming a fully electric company, our design language follows. With the refreshed fully electric XC40, we continue to evolve its instantly recognizable design, creating a more modern face with a sleeker front and an even more integrated grille,” said Volvo Cars Head of Design Robin Page.
Volvo Cars also unveiled a single electric motor variant of the pure electric C40 Recharge. This expands the brand’s fully-electric offering and supports its ambition to make more people make the switch from conventional ICE vehicles to fully electric ones.
The new single-motor C40 will be powered by a 69kWh battery and an electric motor that propels the front wheels. It is said to have an anticipated range of up to 434km in a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 32 minutes using a fast-charging system.
The updated XC40 range as well as the new C40 variant will be available through an updated offer concept, designed to make the online ordering process of Volvo cars easier and more convenient.
According to Volvo Cars, customers will now be able to choose between different equipment levels and select the options that best suit their personal needs. The new offer structure reflects the company’s ambitions to increase price transparency, as well as reduce complexity in its model offering by focusing on attractive pre-selected variants.
