With a goal to provide an “electrifying future”, Volvo Philippines was the first luxury marque in the country to offer plug-in hybrid vehicles in the country.

In a statement, Volvo Philippines noted that its range of plug-in hybrid models offers a no-compromise combination of plug-in battery electric power and an efficient petrol engine. “These vehicles provide low to zero tailpipe emissions, excellent flexibility, and a powerful driving experience,” it shared.
The electric motor added in every Volvo Plug-in Hybrid model helps the vehicle emit less carbon dioxide emissions.
Apart from that, the three drive modes provide flexibility for the following:
- zero tailpipe emissions (Pure electric mode),
- fun-to-drive experience (Power mode),
- maximize efficiency and range (Hybrid mode).
The T8 Twin Engine fitted in a Volvo plug-in hybrid can dish out more than 407hp and 640Nm.
On a global scale, Volvo has been known for its legendary safety technology. To note, Volvo was the first to install the three-point safety belt, the rearward-facing child seat, and the pedestrian detection with full auto brake in its offerings.
The vision that no one should be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo car is still injected in its trademark DNA.

Moreover, the local arm said that with a clear focus on three key innovation areas namely connectivity, propulsion, and safety, Volvo “envisions a not-too-distant future where the world is fully connected and electric vehicles are the answer to personal mobility needs.”
