Volvo Philippines has thrown its support to the Alabang Country Club’s 35th Mango Tee with its XC40 B5 R-Design Boost Hybrid.
In a statement, the Swedish carmaker’s local arm offered the aforementioned model as the hole-in-one prize at the country's one of the much-awaited golfing tournaments this year.
Per Volvo Philippines, the XC40 B5 R-Design Boost Hybrid (which graced the greens last January 30-February 4) is a fitting prize in the event, boasting that it is the first-ever Volvo model to win the European Car of the Year award.
“The XC40 is defined by a strong graphical design, a natural feeling of strength and quality, and a playful nature regarding colors and materials. Intuitive and convenient, it has a next-generation infotainment system that offers customers unprecedented personalization and unparalleled connectivity,” Volvo Philippines stated.
“Volvo has many good reasons to engage in sports events like golf. First, it lets us catch up with customers and meet new ones. This Mango Tee tournament is one event where we can get together under exciting circumstances," Volvo Philippines Chief Executive Officer Atty. Alberto Arcilla was quoted as saying.
To note, the global brand has been a part of the sports world for many years. Back in the late 1970s, Volvo started sponsoring tennis and equestrian events and soon after, sailing and golf. Among the most notable golfing events in the Volvo sponsorship portfolio are the Volvo Masters Andalucia, Volvo China Open, Volvo Masters of Asia, and the Volvo Masters Amateur.
Further, the company noted that its compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) has Volvo’s advanced kinetic energy recovery braking system combined with an internal combustion engine to create a new integrated electrified powertrain. The mill, Volvo Philippines mentioned, offers drivers up to 15-percent fuel savings and emission reductions in real-world driving, thanks to its brake-by-wire energy recovery system.
Moreover, the Volvo XC40 is fitted with a next-generation infotainment system that offers customers unprecedented personalization and unparalleled connectivity.
In addition, the XC40 is fitted with award-winning safety technologies known from Volvo’s 90 and 60 Series cars. Apart from that, it is also fitted with the marque’s latest advanced driver assistance systems sensor platform made up of radars, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors. This host of technologies enable the development and deployment of active safety systems, such as detecting other road users, automatic braking, and collision avoidance. It also comes with a pilot assist function that also allows for gentle driver support from a standstill up to highway speeds.
Earlier, Carmudi Philippines was able to confirm that the purely-electrified versions of the XC40 and C40 will be formally introduced to the local market come the last quarter of 2023.
