Per Volvo, the C40 Recharge can cover up to 540 kilometers of road.Through a very suggestive post over its official Facebook page, the Swedish automotive marque’s local arm invited the public to join them in charging forward “to an electrifying 2023.”
Making the post more interesting are the hashtags #ShapeOfThingsToCome and #VolvoRecharge.
However, introducing a purely electric vehicle offering would not be that surprising as Volvo Philippines is the first automotive marque in the luxury segment that offered plug-in hybrid vehicles locally.
Volvo C40 Recharge comes in either single (front-wheel drive) or twin electric motor (all-wheel drive) types. The power mill of the single electric variant Recharge P6 can deliver 170 kilowatts (kw) or 228 horsepower (hp) and 330 Nm of torque while the twin electric powertrain of the P8 variation can provide as much as 300kw (402 hp) and 660Nm of pulling power.
The former can accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 7.4 seconds while the latter has the capacity to reach the same speed in 4.7 seconds.
The battery capacity of the Volvo C40 Recharge P6 is smaller (69 kilowatt-hour) as compared to the P8 trim. However, the P6 can cover longer distances as it has an estimated maximum range of 540 kilometers (km) versus the P8’s 500km range.
