Volvo Recharge models now in PH
Weeks after the arrival has been confirmed, Volvo Philippines has officially launched its two new contenders in the country’s premium electric vehicle arena.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge can go 0-100 kph in 4.9 seconds while the C40, in 4.7 seconds.Known as the brand’s “twin” models, the Gothenburg-headquartered marque’s local arm has unveiled the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge.
As early as January this year, a source confirmed to Carmudi Philippines that the electrified models will be arriving in the Philippines.
“Our pure electric Volvo C40 and XC40 Recharge are siblings that carry the trademark Volvo DNA of safety, quality, and sustainability. Yet even identical twins still have different personalities, as does our all-electric duo. One thing for sure is that both Volvos are designed to provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way,” Volvo Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Alberto Arcilla said.
Although sporting their own characteristics, the two vehicles have numerous similarities.
Powering the two models are the same all-wheel drive twin-motor engine that can provide a maximum of 408 horses and 660 Newton-meters of torque. This rests on the new Compact Modular Architecture platform.
The powertrain allows both vehicles to run zero to kilometers per hour in less than five seconds — with the Volvo XC40 Recharge in 4.9 seconds and C40 Recharge, 4.7 seconds.
Further, the two newly unveiled offerings have a range of more than 500 kilometers (km): the C40 Recharge can cover 549 km and XC40 Recharge, 537 km of road.
The battery mated to the electric mills can be juiced up from 10 up 80 percent using a DC fast charger in 27 minutes.
To signify Volvo’s journey towards electrification, the Recharge models carry a similar front fascia design that frameless grille and new bumper.
However, the Volvo C40 Recharge is relatively lower and has a sleeker design than the XC40 Recharge as the former has a couple-like roofline while the latter has bolder features.
For their interior, the two models are fitted with premium leather-free upholstery, panoramic sunroof, advanced air purifier system, and smart cabin solutions, among others.
Moreover, their myriad of shared technologies includes an infotainment system (developed with Google and based on the Android operating system) matched to a 13-speaker Harman Kardon system.
“The Volvo pure electric C40 and XC40 Recharge models will pave the way for more people to enjoy the full electric mobility experience. Both models are superior in terms of power, range, charging speed, and battery capacity. Even more enticing is that all these features are tied up in the most competitive ownership package in the whole industry,” Volvo Philippines Marketing Director Chris Yu said.
Bundled with an eight-year battery warranty, five-year roadside assistance, a three-year comprehensive car warranty, a wall box charger, and unlimited digital update service, the Volvo XC40 Recharge is offered at an introductory price of P3.99 million and C40 Recharge for P4.19 million.
