Volvo’s new OTA update to include Apple CarPlay support

Per Volvo, owners can link their iPhones to their vehicles via USB.Since the beginning of 2021, Volvo Cars has been offering OTA updates on a regular basis, and it is a key technology for delivering on the company’s ambition of making customers’ cars continuously better.
The previous OTA update, which was released in April, has been deployed to more than 197,000 cars.
“Through over-the-air updates, we can make sure that our customers can enjoy new features quickly and easily. It also means that a new Volvo car is no longer at its finest as it rolls off the factory floor, but keeps improving as we launch additional updates,” said Volvo Connected Experience Lead Sanela Ibrovic.
With the latest OTA update, which will initially be rolled out in the UK, Volvo owners can now connect their iPhones via USB and access apps from their devices, wherever Apple CarPlay is available. Per the Gothenburg-based carmaker, it will be made available in 14 new markets, with the volume of cars covered by such updates to grow with every new update.
Volvo has made significant strides with Google, as it is the first carmaker to allow direct integration with Google Assistant on vehicles. Adding Apple CarPlay to its roster of features expands Volvo’s reach and support for its customers.
