VW teases Tiguan Allspace 7-seater ahead of world debut
Volkswagen has given a teaser of the Tiguan Allspace, a seven-seater version of the Tiguan compact SUV, which will debut May 12
VW said that in addition to a fresh new design for the exterior, the Tiguan Allspace will also boast advanced technical features, and new control and assist systems which will guarantee even more convenience.
This upcoming SUV will also have a range of online-based services and functions, thanks to the MIB3 Infotainment system.
The Tiguan Allspace will offer more space with a luggage compartment volume of up to 1,920 liters. With its optional third row of seats, it also offers enough room for up to seven people, making it the perfect choice for families.
While VW did not mention specific kit, it is likely that this Tiguan will get the features from the recently-released Polo (below).
These include the Digital Cockpit, a digital instrument cluster with an eight-inch screen, which can also display navigation and other multimedia functions.
A larger 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment, which comes with the expected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, may find its way to the Tiguan Allspace.
IQ Drive could also appear. It's a compilation of driver assistance systems that includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking.
The IQ Drive also adds blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance.
Since its introduction back in 2007, VW said the Tiguan has gone from a newcomer to one of the best-selling SUV models on the market.
One of the main factors for this success is the 2017 launch of the first Tiguan Allspace, a 22-centimeter-longer version of the Tiguan. Around 1.5 million of the Long Wheel Base variant (LWB) have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2017 until the end of March this year.
This LWB Tiguan will be built at two different sites. The Tiguan L for the Chinese market will be manufactured in Shanghai, while, the LWB Tiguan versions for North and South America, and the Tiguan Allspace for Europe will be made in Puebla, Mexico.
Volkswagen said it has clearly hit the mark with the LWB version worldwide, as a remarkable 55 percent of all Tiguan models rolling out of production have a long wheelbase.
An LWB Tiguan once graced the local market in 2019 in the form of the 280 TSI DSG SE. It had a 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and a six-speed DSG transmission.
Its interior features and comfort amenities included leather seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, panoramic sunroof, eight speakers, and driver power 12-way seat adjustment.
This previous-generation Tiguan was introduced alongside the Santana, Lavida, and Lamando.
