It's hard to deny that the
all-new Suzuki Jimny is the most hyped, most talked-about vehicle in the market today. After all, it's hard to deny that it's an attractive package despite its minuscule size, with its masculine looks complementing its proven four-wheel-drive package.
For the past two weeks, we've seen the all-new Jimny in the photos. Now, we can finally see it in action, and if the photos were already good enough to further whet our appetite for its local launch reportedly by the fourth quarter of the year,
Suzuki Motor Corporation has released a
23-minute long video of it being put through its paces. That's right--23 minutes long, not a minute-long teaser.
Unfortunately, the video's in Japanese, so while we could only guess what's being said in a video, we're sure it has something to do with the accompanying footage.
The video shows everything about the Jimny, from the first-gen model that was introduced in 1970 to the latest features of the all-new, fourth-generation model.
One thing you'll notice in the video is that the
Kinetic Yellow-colored Jimny
lacks its matte black fender overriders. That's because it's the
exclusive Japanese Domestic Market-model Jimny that's classified as a
kei car with its
0.66 litre R06A turbo engine. The
1.5 litre K15B engine will be available for the fender overrider-equipped--and globally available--
Jimny Sierra subcompact SUV though it'll probably be simply named Jimny everywhere else.
Another thing also worth noting in the video is that the JDM Jimny has
slightly better approach and departure angles than the Jimmy Sierra at
41- and 51-degrees, respectively, over the latter's 36- and 50-degrees. The Jimny Sierra though rides a little more taller with a
ground clearance of 210 mm, or 5 mm more than the Jimny.
As for the all-important fuel efficiency figures, based on the
Worldwide Harmonized Light Duty Test Cycle (WLTC), the Jimny with the
five-speed manual transmission averages
15 km/L while the
four-speed slushbox-equipped Jimny does
13.6 km/L.
