Honda announced the upcoming unveiling of the latest iteration of the Civic Type-R. The world premiere of the souped-up sedan will be on July 21.
The Japanese carmaker released a 24-second teaser on its official YouTube channel, revealing the front end of the latest-generation Honda Civic Type R. You can check it out here.
Those who have been following the nameplate will have an idea of what the new Civic Type-R would look like, as the brand has shared several camouflaged photos of the car.
Unwrapped though, the race-ready sedan appears to be wearing the iconic Championship White paint that goes well with the red Honda emblem and the crimson Type-R badge. Also noticeable are its slim and sleek LED lights that flank the two-part grille.
The Minato-based automaker couldn’t have picked a better time to launch a new Civic Type R as this year, the Civic model is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Furthermore, this year also represents the 25 years of the Civic wearing the crimson Type R badge.
This global unveil will showcase the car ahead of its arrival in Europe early next year.
“Ever since the first generation, that launched to such great acclaim, the Honda Civic has been an iconic model for European customers. The 11th generation encapsulates the core characteristics of functionality, usability, and comfort from the very first generation Civic. It has been engineered to ensure that its powertrain, steering, and suspension deliver the engaging levels of performance, dynamic response, and feedback that have always been central to the Civic’s appeal,” said Honda Motor Europe Ltd. Senior Vice President Tom Gardner in a press release.
It will also be gunning for a new Nürburgring record, so watch for that.
