WATCH: KTM has made the 890 Duke R Super Scalpel even sharper

The KTM 890 Duke R has been one of the most sought-after motorcycles in the middleweight naked bike segment. And for 2022, the Super Scalpel just got sharper.

KTM has released a promotional video on its official YouTube page showing just how aggressive this beast of a bike is. Watch the refreshed KTM 890 Duke R rip the race track here.

One of the most obvious changes to the Super Scalpel is its premium “Atlantic Blue” matte paint. According to the Austrian motorcycle company, the color is “reminiscent of the palate used on the KTM RC16 GP racer and recently the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, adding to The Super Scalpel’s ‘Ready to Race’ demeanor.”

Its new blue trim also represents the KTM 890 Duke R’s lightning-fast steering geometry, for which it has earned its nickname.

Equipped with a tubular steel chassis with a load-bearing design and adjustable WP Apex suspensions, the Super Scalpel remains a no-compromise middleweight naked bike, equally at home on twisty mountain roads as it is on the racetrack.

Power comes from an 890cc parallel-twin engine that delivers an impressive 121hp and 99Nm of peak torque right between the rider’s legs. Bringing the bike to a halt is a meaty 320mm disc brake paired with four-piston Brembo Stylema radially mounted calipers at the front while the rear gets a 240mm disc brake with a single-piston Brembo floating caliper.

A set of sticky Michelin Power Cup 2 tires provides reliable grip on all asphalt surfaces in all weather conditions.

KTM also says that the Super Scalpel is also equipped with “Cornering ABS and Cornering MTC (motorcycle traction control) with a 6D lean angle sensor that not only detects the side-to-side (roll) and forwards and backward (pitch) movements of the bike, but also the rotation of the bike on its vertical axis (yaw).”

KTM says that the 890 Duke R will arrive in authorized KTM dealers starting this February.

While there's still no official announcement about its arrival in the country, the Super Scalpel is already listed on the KTM Philippines’ website.
