Nissan has unveiled a new GT-R, including two special-edition (T-spec) models, for the Japanese market.
The automotive brand revealed the new Nissan GT-R at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. A video of the car’s unveiling is available on Nissan’s official YouTube video, which you can watch here.
Per Nissan, the new GT-R lineup is comprised of eight models. The roster includes four non-Nismo variants, which are the Nissan GT-R Pure edition, Nissan GT-R Black edition, Nissan GT-R Premium edition, and the Nissan GT-R Premium edition T-spec. Also available for Nissan’s Japanese customers are four Nismo models, which are the Nissan GT-R Track edition engineered by Nismo, Nissan GT-R Track edition engineered by Nismo T-spec, Nissan GT-R Nismo, and the Nissan GT-R Nismo Special edition.
Of the eight aforementioned models, the Nissan GT-R Premium edition T-spec and the Nissan GT-R Nismo Special edition are the two special edition models.
Changes to the new Nissan GT-R lineup include a new grille, improved aerodynamics, and a refined ride quality.
“Fronted with a new grille design, cutting-edge technologies, and craftsmanship, the new models are the pinnacle of the GT-R R35,” said Nissan Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta.
The T-spec models, Nissan explained, represent the GT-R’s philosophy of leading and shaping the times and are inspired by the words trend and traction. The GT-R T-spec has been created to always be ahead of the times and to drive with a robust grip. The Nissan GT-R Premium edition T-spec is now equipped with a special suspension set and carbon disc brakes, delivering the pleasure of a smooth ride and responsive handling.
Further, the Nismo variants were built using race-inspired technologies. Thanks to a refined aerodynamic performance, suspension tuning, and the addition of a mechanical limited-slip differential to the front final drive, the Nismo variants are undoubtedly the highest-performance GT-R models ever.
Additionally, Nissan gave the Nismo variants of the GT-R with exclusive Recaro carbon back bucket seats, which are refreshed for enhanced drive quality.
The Nissan GT-R Nismo Special edition is fitted with high-precision weight-balanced engine parts — such as piston rings, connecting rods, and crankshaft — and a clear-coated Nismo-exclusive carbon engine hood (with NACA ducts).
According to the Yokohama-based brand, the non-Nismo models are expected to be made available in the Japanese domestic market in “spring” (from March to June) while the Nismo versions will be made available in “summer” (from June to September).
