WATCH: Your favorite F1 drivers interviewed in FIA’s ‘When We Were Young’
The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) released a short documentary film on its official YouTube channel last week. The 17-minute short film, dubbed “When We Were Young,” looks into how today’s roster of Formula 1 drivers once started with a dream; a dream that would one day become a reality.

“In this film, all of the current Formula 1 drivers share their memories, their beginnings, and explain to us what transformed them, what created their desire to compete, what made them pursue the dream that made them who they are today. They are the living example of a dream come true,” said the FIA.
The short documentary sees drives from top teams like Merc’s Hamilton and Russel, Red Bull’s Verstappen and Perez, as well as Ferrari’s Sainz Jr. and Leclerc. Midfield team drivers like McLaren’s Norris and Ricciardo, Alpine’s Alonso and Ocon, as well as Alpha Tauri’s Gasly and Tsunoda. Strong contenders like Aston Martin’s Vettel and Stroll, Albon and Latifi from Williams, Guanyu and Bottas from Alfa Romeo, and Haas’ Magnussen and Schumacher.
According to the FIA, the motorsports organization aims to encourage more people to get involved in motorsports by inspiring the next generation to follow in the footsteps of the world’s greatest competitors.
In addition to “When We Were Young,” the FIA reveals that it plans to make separate episodes for each driver. These videos will be posted on FIA’s social channels throughout the rest of the season.
