Weekend 'Road Reblocking Style' on Elliptical Road
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is advising motorists that Elliptical Road in Quezon City will undergo weekend repairs, starting this Friday, July 26, to address perennial flooding in the area.
A flood control measure of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the repair works involves the elevation of the middle portion the road, affecting five lanes that usually experience flooding during heavy rains.
MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said repairs will only be done one lane per segment, assuring motorists that the two-kilometer roundabout will remain passable.
"One lane shall be closed on Friday at 11 PM and shall be opened again by Monday at 5 AM. The same schedule will be applied the following weekend," said Garcia.
The repair works will last for one year.
The rehabilitation was initially scheduled on July 12 but was postponed following the changes.
Additional traffic personnel will be deployed in the area to guide the motorists.
