Wide-Body Dodge Charger Concept Makes Its Way to California Spring Fest
The rumor that the Dodge Charger may be given the wide-body treatment--similar to the current Challenger SRT Hellcat--started when an Instagram user posted a video of what seemed like a beefed-up Charger-looking sedan roaming around Detroit.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) finally confirmed that it was indeed its product on the video, and announced the car's unveiling at this year's Spring Festival of Lx, California's premier Mopar (Motor Parts) event.
The wide-body Charger is actually a concept, and Dodge and SRT head designer Mark Trostle shared a few images of the vehicle on his W I D E #Concept #Charger @black70rr photo #FCADrivefordesign #Dodgesrt #sf14 A post shared by Mark Trostle (@trostlemark) on
The Spring Festival of Lx is FCA's way of gauging interest in its concepts and see which ones are worth sending to production. If the wide-body Charger earns enough nods, experts expect a production model to be rolled out in 2020.
"We are taking a Charger design concept to Spring Fest to gauge feedback from the huge Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 enthusiast base that attends the California event each year," an FCA spokesperson said.
