Is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) planning to bring in the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) version of the Xpander?
The said speculation came after the firm announced its plan on bringing in “something unexpected” at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show.
Per the Japanese automotive marque’s local distributor, it aims to showcase “Mitsubishi Motors-ness and surprise the public with its product lineup — along with ‘something unexpected’” — at the four-day event.
“As a pioneer in the automotive industry with a legacy spanning over six decades, MMPC will be showcasing its latest cutting-edge technologies and diverse lineup of vehicles designed to meet the evolving needs of Filipinos,” MMPC noted.
The company, its booth at the event will give event-goers “an immersive experience and opportunity to explore the brand's full range of vehicles.” Expected to also be highlighted were the Xforce and Triton — both launched earlier this year.
Additionally, the brand’s distributor in the country said that it aims to showcase its vision for the future of mobility through Mitsubishi Motors-ness, which means offering an “all-in-one vehicle that combines unmatched capability, advanced safety, and exceptional comfort—ensuring a superior car experience.”
“It has been Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to create reliable vehicles that will give peace of mind to its owners all throughout its life span, so this goes far beyond the product itself and includes aftersales service as well,” it added.
According to MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Ritsu Imaeda, the brand’s lineup at the PIMS reflects its commitment to meeting the ever-changing need of the market. “We’re looking forward to demonstrating Mitsubishi Motors-ness through our display and giving the public a glimpse of future mobility,” he noted.
To recall, Mitsubishi Thailand introduced to its market the Xpander HEV and Xpander Cross HEV. The said models are powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a generator and a motor as well as a dedicated drive battery particularly developed for them.
However, there are other models that might be displayed at the Mitsubishi booth such as the recently-teased Outlander plug-in hybrid, and the next-generation Montero Sport (which was reportedly conducted real-world tests in a different region).
