Xingyue L is latest addition to Geely's 'Star' series in China
Geely, the largest privately owned Chinese brand, launched its newest compact modular architecture (CMA)-based SUV, the Xingyue L, to the Chinese market.
The premium SUV, "the most advanced SUV ever by Geely" received almost 30,000 pre-orders since being unveiled to the public earlier in the year.
In China, the Xingyue L adds a third model to Geely’s "Star" series which also includes the Xingyue S and Preface sedan.
The Chinese carmaker described the SUV's styling as one with "a strong presence... and a serene yet trendy image."
The interior of the Xingyue L is a mix of "Eastern and Western styling," with suede present throughout. Weaving in the seats incorporate Chinese elements like classical knots to add refinement in the details.
Inside, the Xingyue is the first model to run Geely’s newest operating system, the Milky Way OS. The OS links four screens, two infotainment screens, a fully digital driver instrument panel, and a 25.6 inch head-up display.
A 10 speaker high-performance Bose sound system aims to bring concert hall sound quality. Interior lighting offers a choice of 72 color schemes that changes according to the driving mode.
The Xingyue L is powered by Volvo and Geely’s jointly developed two-liter turbo engine, which is matched to a seven-speed wet dual clutch or an Aisin eight-speed automatic.
The engine has two states of tune: 234hp and up to 380Nm of torque, and 215hp and 325Nm.
With BorgWarner’s four-wheel drive system, a 50:50 front/rear torque distribution is possible, offering Xingyue L users improved off-road performance.
As part of the Blue Geely Initiative, all Star models including the Xingyue L will among the first to offer a hybrid powertrain system in the near future. The carmaker claimed that its hybrid will have improvements in thermal efficiency of 43.32 percent, and fuel savings exceeding 40 percent.
