Yamaha aims for carbon neutrality in its products, activities by 2050
Yamaha has reviewed its CO2 emission reduction targets in the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050 first formulated in 2018.
Now, the Japanese motorcycle maker has set a new goal of aiming for carbon neutrality throughout all of its business activities, including across the life cycles of its products by 2050.
By 2030, Yamaha aims to slash its C02 emissions by 24 percent, and 38 percent by 2035.
"We will formulate a medium-term plan every three years and advance initiatives and activities toward these targets," Yamaha said.
Yamaha is part of the Swappable Battery Consortium, a group composed of Japanese motorcycle brands. This year, the group has reached an agreement to standardize some specifications of swappable batteries for electric motorcycles in Japan.
Alongside Yamaha, the Battery Consortium was established by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and Suzuki Motor Corporation, in April 2019.
