Oftentimes, motorcycles are associated with the words freedom, power, and sportiness. However, it’s not common to see two-wheeled motorbikes — let alone small-displacement scooters — become connected to the words resiliency and athleticism.
But, the Yamaha Mio Gear is here to show that there’s more to the city scoot than meets the eye. Let’s check out some of the reasons why this is the perfect motorcycle for those who want to show off their resilient, agile, and tough side.
The Yamaha Mio Gear wears a bold front fascia. At its center is an LED headlamp setup that’s not only designed to be brighter than others but is also made to be more durable than most. To each of its sides are hazard lamps that will come in handy in certain situations.
Its side profile is highlighted by fairings with plenty of sharp angles that make the Yamaha Mio Gear look aggressive. In addition, the footboard (as well as the rider side back step) features textured panels that add some level of traction so riders won’t wave to worry about slipping off.
Finally, the rear offers a matte-finished grab bar, which rounds up its tough-looking design.
Another thing to point out is that the Yamaha Mio Gear was purposefully made with fewer painted parts, leading us to believe that this look will not easily go out of style.
Powering the Yamaha Mio Gear is an air-cooled, four-stroke, two-valve engine with a displacement of 125 cubic centimeters. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and can put out as much as 9.2 horsepower with 9.6 Newton-meters of torque.
The said powerplant is capable enough to get riders through point A to point B. In addition, the CVT also facilitates smooth power transitions, especially when one is caught in stop-and-go traffic.
This means that Yamaha Mio Gear owners can rely on a dependable engine backed by a reliable transmission system that can get them back up to speed so they can reach their destinations.
Thanks to its slim and compact body design, the Yamaha Mio Gear comes in as an athletic and nimble city scooter that can easily get its owners through the tight city streets of the metro. Moreover, the size of the Mio Gear means that its owners can easily maneuver it when moving through narrow spaces and parking lots.
Dimension-wise, the Yamaha Mio Gear measures 1,870 millimeters (mm) long, 685mm wide, and 1,060mm tall.
Because of its relatively slim and athletic proportions, the Yamaha Mio Gear will be a good choice not only for beginners but also for lady riders who are looking for a compact scooter.
The Yamaha Mio Gear not only looks stylishly tough but is also packed with features that allow its owners to ride a motorcycle that’s as hardy and as able as they are.
On that note, Yamaha Motor Philippines staged the second Mio Gear Playground in SM City Cebu. Here, the motorcycle brand brought athletes like basketball star Paul Lee, beauty queen Emanuelle Vera, and the e-sports team LV Dragons.
