Yamaha Motoroid Concept Bike Nominated for Global Design Award
The Yamaha Motoroid concept bike has been nominated for the Red Dot: Luminary award at the globally renowned Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2018.
The Motoroid concept is a motorcycle--it just doesn't look like the typical bike that we know of today. At first glance, you might not think that it's a motorcycle but the Motoroid's body frame suggests that it is a motorcycle--a motorcycle from the future or a bike that escaped from a sci-fi movie.
The Motoroid is Yamaha's concept bike that made its debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. During the said show, this alien-looking bike managed to capture the audience's attention.
The Motoroid concept intends to demonstrate personal mobility wherein the rider "resonates harmoniously with the machine." This bike is equipped with what Yamaha calls a high-precision balance control, which is integrated with artificial intelligence and autonomous technology.
Moreover, the Motoroid has the ability to automatically adjust its center of gravity, which allows the bike to stand upright on its own. The winner of the Luminary award will be announced on September 2018. In case you're wondering, this year's Red Dot Awards received a total of 5,640 entries from 55 countries around the world.
