April KIng Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio

Filipino racers under Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) are targeting a better finish at the second round of the 2022 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Who are the Filipino racers under Yamaha Motor Philippines at the 2022 Asia Road Racing Championship?

They are April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio.
  • When is the next ARRC event?

It is on May 28-29, 2022.
  • Expected to follow the feats of McKinley Kyle Paz, (who was the 2019 overall champ at the racing series) April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio both did not finish podium style.

Mascardo ended Race 1 at 9th place then improved by taking the 5th spot on the second heat. Mauricio, on the other hand, failed to finish his premier race of the series after experiencing technical issues and completed Race 2 at 17th place.

Both racers vowed to give it their all in the upcoming race.

“For me, I’m just looking for time to get the pole for the last turn. That last turn was crazy, all the riders were in the slipstream. For Round 2 in Malaysia, I will give my best again for the country,” Mascardo said after finishing the first round held at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.

“After the start. I was really feeling that I could make it. I was going strong for four laps but had trouble with my bike. In Malaysia, I will still give my best to be part of the top 10,” Mauricio noted.

For the first round, Mascardo is 7th in the overall standings and leads the Filipino riders for the second round.

The next race will be held on May 28-29 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
