  • Per YMPH Marketing Section Manager Toni Acuesta, the aforementioned number exceeded the brand’s target number of attendees.

“We’re doing this activity because we wanted to check how many [riders> are really active online and how many are active, physically. And this time we have shown proof that riders are not just what you see online but we can see them physically right now and we go beyond the numbers, the target we have,” Acuesta told Carmudi Philippines in an interview.

The participants consist of YClub members from 15 affiliated groups.

Among them were the local arms of some of the biggest clubs in the country such as NMAX Club PH Mindanao, Aerox Club PH Mindanao, and All Mio Club Mindanao. The latter came with one of its leaders, Ferdinand Ratilla Jr., who is an amputee rider.

Ratilla revealed to Carmudi Philippines that he started riding in 2009, and despite encountering an accident that cost him his leg, he never gave up on his passion for motorcycles.

Participants began the day with a breakfast ride. Taking their trusted Yamaha motorbikes through the scenic roads of the King City of the South, the YClub members then finished the journey at the Davao Convention and Trade Center, where various activities awaited them.

YMPH prepared engaging games like a basketball shoot-out, a ball pool, custom bike displays from participating clubs, motorcycle safety talks, raffles, and discounted items from its partner brands.

The YClub Mania initiative is aimed at providing Yamaha motorcycle owners with unique experiences that transcend typical motorcycle ownership.

Further, Acuesta explained to Carmudi Philippines that on top of the experience they prepared for the YClub members, the brand is helping the affiliated clubs create their own programs.

“One of the best examples right now is the group Mio Aerox Club Philippines. They are very much active in terms of creating initiatives and programs on their own and I think this coming December they are having a seven-year celebration, which will happen in Baguio,” Acuesta noted.

He said that around 1,000 riders are slated to participate in the seven-year anniversary event.

Other members — Acuesta pointed out — do tree planting activities, some do corporate social responsibility programs, while others conduct community rides. YMPH, he said, provides these clubs with freebies, official Yamaha items, and things that can help the clubs carry out their programs.

Those interested in being a part of the YClub community can do so in two ways.

“We have two types of membership,” Acuesta informed Carmudi Philippines.

“One membership is ‘individual’ membership and the second membership is what we call the ‘platinum’ or plus-kind, or YClub Plus, if you form a group. Because if you form a group, of course, the support of Yamaha will be there — if you have programs and activities. So, all you have to do is form at least 50 members and above, and then you have to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission to be part of this membership [program>. Then we evaluate and once you are accredited, we will welcome you to our online community,” said Acuesta.

“We have an exclusive online community right now, I think we now have at least 10,000 members, and soon we’re going to make it public,” Acuesta boasted.
