Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has formally introduced the newest iteration of the Sniper 155 after it was spotted behind Filipino motorcycle racers McKinley Kyle Paz, April King Mascardo, and Gian Carlo Mauricio at a press conference held last March.
The new Yamaha Sniper 155 — and its sportier brother, the Sniper 155R — is fitted with a new 155 cubic centimeter engine that is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected. Equipped with a 4.6-liter cleaner box resonator, the new powerplant is paired with a constant mesh six-speed transmission.
Smoother riding is facilitated by a variable valve actuation system while an assist and slipper clutch — also found on Yamaha models like the YZF-R1 and YZF-R15M — improves gear shifts.
The new Yamaha Sniper 155 dons an edgier, sportier appeal with more aggressive fairings. It also rides on 17-inch five-spoke wheels with tires measuring 90/80 at the front and 120/70 at the rear.
Disc brakes — front and back — give the new Yamaha Sniper 155 ample stopping power.
Other notable features include a telescopic front fork, a swing arm suspension system, an inverted digital meter panel, LED lights, and a 5.4-liter fuel tank capacity.
The new Yamaha Sniper 155R gets additional appointments in the form of an anti-lock brake system, a 12-volt direct current power socket, a smart key system, and a two-pot brake caliper.
The updated Yamaha Sniper 155 is available in Cyan and Racing Blu while the Sniper 155R comes in Matte Black. They are priced at P125,900 and P145,900 respectively.
