Yamaha PH officially unveils neo-retro XSR 155
Following its 65th anniversary, Yamaha, through its local distributor, brought to the country the latest addition to its roster, the XSR 155.
Unveiled via Yamaha Philippines’ first-ever digital launch, this neo-retro model will go against the Honda CB150R in its segment.
Powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke SOHC, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), the XSR155 (with initials that stand for Xtreme Street Racing), has been much-awaited by our local two-wheel aficionados since the early part of the year.
The bike's rugged looks are inspired by the XSR Series, which combines timeless styling with Yamaha's latest components crafted with Racing DNA.
According to Yamaha Philippines, the XSR155 was “designed to invoke a sense of freedom unique to its 155cc displacement class.”
“The design combines the qualities of retro models and modern sport bikes and sits outside the three established categories of Supersport, Naked and Retro. It is a combination of authentic, retro exterior and all the motorcycling traditions behind it with exciting performance derived from the latest technology,” the company added.
The XSR 155's features include a full-LCD digital speedometer housed in an authentic retro style gauge with an easy-to-read panel containing a transmission indicator.
It also has an inverted front fork to ensure excellent shock absorption performance and handling with feedback from the front wheel, as well as solid front-end rigidity.
Looks do not compromise the bike's practicality, as its classically-styled seat design gives riders freedom of riding position while housing the drip-shaped tank that boasts a 10.4-liter fuel-carrying capacity.
The LED headlight and taillight design takes its cue from the higher-displacement XSR series siblings.
The bike sits on 17-inch wheels, measuring 110/70 in the front and 140/70 in the rear. To mitigate the effects of engine braking during deceleration, the XSR 155 now has an Assist and Slipper Clutch system for smoother downshifting.
Those who don’t want a full rebuild can choose from various bolt-on accessories that can either enhance the standard style or turn it into a Café Racer or Tracer-themed ride.
Now available in the Yamaha Flagship Shop, the YZONE and Yamaha Rev Zones nationwide, the XSR 155 retails at P162,000 and is available in Garage Metal and Tech Black colorways.
