Yamaha PH’s Paz off to good start at 2022 FIM JRGP

Paz joined the Yamaha Philippines Stylobike Racing for the 2022 season.Paz — also known as “The Wonderboy” — scored a total of 12 points after two races last May 8 held at Circuito do Estoril, placing ninth overall in the division.
Prior to the points received, Paz — who was on board the number 32 motorcycle — was penalized during the qualifying round and had to start at the back of the grid in Race 1. The Philippine flag bearer displayed his capabilities at the track anew and finished the initial race from 31st place to 9th spot.
For Race 2, the 20-year-old racer (who is the 2019 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) UB150 victor) improved his score and crossed the checkered flag in eighth place.
It can be recalled that last year, Paz, the Philippines’ first racer in the FIM CEV European Championship Moto2 Category, placed 16th overall in the Moto2 division.
Meanwhile, his teammate at Yamaha Philippines Stylobike Racing Alex Escrig finished the initial round of the series at number 5 spot, scoring a total of 25 points from his third-place and seventh-place finish in the first two rounds, respectively.
During a short virtual press conference, Paz shared that aside from the training that he is receiving, the continuous support from his loved ones helped him push further in the races.
The next race, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, will be on May 22 at Circuit Ricardo Tomo.
