Audi Philippines announced that the all-new RS Q8—the fastest production SUV to lap the Nürburgring track in Germany—can now be viewed via Audi Live View.
The SUV offering from Audi Sport took the Nurbugring’s North Loop in 7 minutes and 42.253 seconds—showing proof that the “at least 8,000 kilometers of evaluation and development work” spent on every high-performance vehicle has paid off.
The program was done to develop and refine the performance of RS models’ powertrain and suspension components under extreme conditions.
The track record of the Audi RS Q8 can be attributed to the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged TFSI V8 engine that produces 600hp and 800Nm torque between 2,200 rpm and 4,500 rpm that lets the performance SUV reach zero to 100kph in just 3.8 seconds, and to 200kph in 13.7 seconds. This is matched to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission that delivers the engine’s power to the Quattro system.
Just like its RS stablemates, the 2021 Audi RS Q8 is engineered with Audi Sport Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which splits the drive power between the front and rear axles depending on available traction.
Providing that distinct engine roar is a dual exhaust system finished by oval tailpipes, which can also be adjusted via the Audi drive select system—designed to alter the handling and dynamic response of the vehicle.
Despite the superb output from the engine, the 2021 RS Q8 has a mild-hybrid capability that lets the vehicle coast for up to 40 seconds with the engine switched off and the engine’s cylinder on-demand system that shuts off some of the cylinders, thereby increasing fuel efficiency.
Those who eye comfort can enjoy the RS adaptive air suspension sport in the 2021 Audi RS Q8. With controlled damping technology, the 2021 Audi RS Q8 can be set to meet the dynamic handling that the driver asks while maintaining smooth ride. Giving that sufficient grip is the all-wheel steering system and the RS ceramic brakes.
Giving it a unique look are a Singleframe, RS-specific radiator grille, side air inlets and other trim pieces; HD Matrix headlamps; wide quattro blisters above the wheel arches that provide space for the model’s more generous wheel track; the RS roof-edge spoiler and rear skirt with a diffuser clip that provide increased downforce; and 23-inch sport alloy wheels.
Notable technological breakthroughs in the all-new 2021 Audi RS Q8 that can also be discussed by an Audi product expert through the Audi Live View are those that can be seen in the cabin such as the RS displays and graphics in the Audi virtual cockpit and MMI, in the front seats, including a shift light.
Aside from that, the SUV is given ample illumination with the shift light and a lighted door sill trim, to match the elegance of the flat-bottom leather steering wheel.
Other luxury features are the air quality package, seats with massage function, a premium Bang and Olufsen audio system, carbon fiber trim, an extended leather package, and soft-closing doors. The vehicle also packs a comprehensive range of assist systems.
All these can be discussed to the customer in real time via a smartphone right in the comforts of his or her own home.
