While some say the car that you see here is only a preview of the next-generation Honda Brio hatchback, we'd say this IS the all-new Honda Brio since its front end is very, very, very, very similar to the Honda Amaze, the second-generation sedan of what is known locally--at least for the first-gen model, as the Honda Brio Amaze--which debuted in India in February 2018 at the Auto Expo 2018.
Revealed at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2018, which opened on April 19 and will run until April 29, 2018, the car is known as the "Small RS Concept" and is designed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd.. Honda's RS is usually reserved for its sporty offerings and the Small RS Concept certainly looks the part with the splitter and hood scoop up front, the hatch-mounted rear spoiler, and the blacked-out wheels and front grille.
What's unmistakable about the front though is that its profile is exactly that of the all-new Amaze sedan, and coupled with a time frame of just a couple of months' introduction between the two vehicles, it's safe to surmise that the Small RS Concept is the all-new Brio hatchback with some sporty fittings attached to it.
“Honda Small RS Concept is the implementation of our endless innovation, emphasizing Honda sporty spirit, especially in small car line ups," said PT Honda Prospect Motor President Director Takehiro Watanabe. "As a concept car, this is our vision of what a small sporty car should be."
Sales of the all-new, second-generation Honda Amaze will begin in May 2018 and we expect the Honda Brio's sales date will start shortly after that.
