Audi RS Q3 Overview
“Small but terrible” is a common Filipino catchphrase that suits the new Audi RS Q3. We don’t mean it in a bad way, of course. It describes a beastly performance, which isn’t normally expected of a subcompact SUV.
RS Q3 hails from Audi Sport, the brand’s high-performance division. The first-generation model was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, followed by a minor update in 2015.
Currently, in its second generation, the crossover undergoes a complete overhaul that encompasses aesthetics and performance. It has a more aggressive exterior, a sportier interior, and a more powerful engine.
The German automaker doesn’t expect it to sell as well as the Audi RS Q3 Sportback. However, Audi Philippines believes its arrival will strengthen its hold of the luxury SUV segment.

Audi RS Q3 Interior
The dashboard combines flat surfaces and hexagon-shaped wedges to match the exterior. You get a three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction switches and a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit which shows the instrument cluster, navigation, and engine speed.
A 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is embedded on center console. Underneath, it is a smaller screen that displays car temperatures, easy-access controls, a small storage box, and a cup holder.
Bucket-style sport seats provide extra comfort and support for the driver and front passenger. The rear bench can hold up to three passengers and has just as many headrests. You can move the rear bench forward and back by up to 150mm, tilt it at 7 different angles, or fold it completely to increase the cargo space from 530 to 1,525 liters.
There’s plenty of nice details such as anthracite, aluminum race inlays, and Nappa leather upholstery with honeycomb stitching. Unfortunately, the dashboard has a tacky layout, and the steering wheel doesn’t come with leather wrapping as a standard.

Audi RS Q3 Exterior
Audi RS Q3 is 96mm longer, 18mm wider, and 5mm shorter than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also been extended by 77mm. In spite of these changes, the SUV retains its compact size and achieves its intimidating look by exchanging curves for sharp lines.
Upfront is a sculpted hood and a hexagonal honeycomb-slated frameless grille flanked by Matrix LED headlights and side air inlets. Two air vents sit right on the bumper. Along the hoodline are three narrow air vents similar to the 1984 Sport Quattro.
The aggressive styling is carried across the vehicle. It has deep side creases, ridged shoulder lines, prominent wheel arches, and 20 to 21-inch wheels on both sides. The rear end gets a gloss black spoiler roof, an RS-specific diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes.

Audi RS Q3 Ride & Handling
The crossover takes a worrying pause when shifting gears, pressing paddles, or stepping on the pedals. These setbacks are made up for by its speed and agility.
RS sport suspensions and adaptive dampers keep the ride smooth and steady at low speeds, or if Comfort mode is switched on. If you switch to more aggressive drive modes or drive faster, the ride feels bumpy and less stable given the right conditions.

Audi RS Q3 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Under the hood is a 2.5L five-cylinder turbo engine. It’s mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and sends power to the wheels via Quattro all-wheel drive.
The Audi RS Q3 is capable of delivering 400 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque and can go from 0 to 100 kmph within 4.5 seconds. Maximum speeds are rated at 280 kmph. Meanwhile, its combined fuel consumption is estimated to be around 11 kmpl.

Audi RS Q3 Braking & Safety
It comes with standard RS steel brakes which are upgradable to ceramics. Both braking systems have excellent stopping power. However, the pedal lacks bite and you’ll have to press it harder than usual.
The RS Q3 is equipped with both basic and advanced safety features. Some of them include emergency brakes, collision and lane departure warnings, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

Audi RS Q3 Verdict
If you’re into speed and compact vehicles, consider buying the Audi RS Q3. It’s the ideal companion for busy people who always find themselves in a rush. This subcompact SUV will help you easily get around the city since it’s small, fast, and agile.
The SUV’s size doesn’t stop it from being a practical all-rounder. The cabin is roomy enough for five passengers, including the driver. There’s also significant space for cargo, especially if you fold the rear seats.
