BAIC X424 Exterior
Standing tall with a height of 1834 mm, width of 1843 mm, and length of 4350 mm, BAIC X424 is really eye-catching when used on your daily commutes.
The boxy shape of the car actually makes it more rugged, yet sophisticated, and powerful. You may notice the oddly rectangular adjustable headlights that actually makes it look like an Autobot that will transform into a war-type robot. The grille is very unique. The five-window like grilles add to the powerful aura of the car as well that thick black front impact beams that encapsulated the front fog lamp and the plate number. Going through the sides, you’ll notice more accent designs of a military vehicle like the big screw heads near the side mirror and that hinge below it also adds to the overall rugged outlook of the car.
There are more touches of blacks on the sides and some simple chiseling out there to make it look more massive.
The classic two-box form (engine compartment plus cabin) puts a densely packed body with little overhangs atop a high-riding and reinforced undercarriage with its long and wide wheelbase geometry. This is definitely ideal for long hauls and cargo loading or delivery.
Other exterior features include manually adjustable exterior rearview mirror and integrated antenna.

The fully-independent suspension in front and the multi-linked in back ensures generous but stable articulation on uneven ground. This makes the car more appropriate for any terrains.
This car uses rack and pinion with hydraulic assist for the steering with a 5.75 m turning radius and adjustable steering column.
You can also quickly reconfigure this car from hatchback to runabout, and other configurations in between, with the easily detachable roof panels and door, you can even fold down the front windshield for that full Safari feel.

It is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission, unfortunately, there is no automatic one, and it sends power to all four 235/75 R16 wheels at a top speed of 150 kmph.
The car has a conventional throttle type and is also Euro 4 compliant. Furthermore, it has an 80-liter fuel tank capacity.

BAIC X424 Verdict
This rugged 4x4 is definitely the frontrunner in terms of affordability. However, when it comes to convenience and technology, its other competitors are still on top of their game. But, this car is already good enough for a small family or a bachelor who wants to buy his own driving buddy. If you are not that very meticulous when it comes to the specifications of a car and you just really need to have a mode of transportation that is stylish and well enough, BAIC X424 is definitely a wise choice. The interior design should still be improved though as well as the additional safety features, but overall, this car is amazing on its own and can definitely go head to head with its mainstay competitors from better-known brands.
