True to its premium price point, the BMW i4’s interior embodies a luxurious and comfortable aesthetic that is the perfect blend of form and function. The driver-centric layout hosts a combination of supple Vernasca leather upholstery, select wooden trim, and choice aluminum accents. The heated and ventilated front seats are power-adjustable, with the additional option of swapping out the regular seats for M Sport seats. Space-wise, the front offers more than ample head and leg room for maximum comfort, although some measure of headroom is sacrificed in the rear primarily due to the car’s sloping roofline. Its 16.6 cubic feet of trunk storage is decent, and the foldable 40/20/40 split seating does provide additional space, but the i4 isn’t designed with cargo stowing in mind.

The true heart of the BWM i4 is the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs the latest incarnation of its in-house driver-assistance system, the iDrive 8 with ConnectDrive.  This state-of-the-art system features navigation, media, vehicle settings, connectivity services, and even voice control. An optional Head-Up Display projects essential driving information onto the windshield. Additional amenities include a Karman Kardon sound system, optional ionization for its climate controls, ambient interior lighting, an M Sport suite option, and interior customizability. 

The BMW i4’s exterior combines the classic Gran Coupe aesthetic that the brand is known for, but with an added ultra-modern flair that hits at its EV nature. In a style that can be best described as ‘futuristic’, the BMW i4 is what a specific brand of a bulky and garish electric vehicle could be if it only paid heed to classy and functional aesthetic more than gimmicky designs. Measuring 4,783 mm long, 1,448 mm tall, 2,073 mm wide, with a 2, 856 mm wheelbase and a decent 125 mm of ground clearance, the i4 looks right at home in the city as it would be in the suburbs.

The classic BMW kidney grille with an exclusive closed-off design intended solely for the i4 is its most eye-catching feature. Sleek and aggressive LED headlights with a characteristic brow-like daytime running light signature flank the grille, while a sculpted lower fascia with integrated air intakes improves aerodynamics and offers a sporty look to the front end. It also boasts a flowing roofline that smoothly descends towards the rear, elegantly sculpted door panels, and frameless windows with electric retractable door handles. 

Additional design cues like its blue accents on the badges and side skirts hint at the i4's electric powertrain, while slim LED taillights with a striking L-shaped design extend into the tailgate, creating an instantly recognizable rear signature. The i4 also comes with eight colorways: Alpine White, Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Tanzanite Blue II, Skyscraper Grey, M Brookyln Grey, Sanremo Green, and Aventurine Red.    

BMW i4 delivers an engaging driving experience that highlights both performance and comfort, with a more performance-oriented leaning. Accurate and sensitive steering, smooth acceleration, and excellent shock absorption guarantee a smooth and satisfying ride. Its regenerative braking might need some getting used to, but it’s a quick learning curve that doesn’t really take away from the i4’s overall performance. 

The fully electric vehicle forgoes the traditional combustion engine. The local model – the eDrive40 – features a single-speed transmission, single rear-wheel drive (RWD) capable of 250 kW (335 hp), with a usable energy output of 80.7 kWh stored into a floor-integrated lithium-ion battery pack. It comes with AC standard charging and DC fast charging, along with regenerative braking and adaptive recuperation features.  

The i4 comes with an extensive suite of safety features. Aside from the standard ones found on all modern-day vehicles, it also features a combination of passive and active safety features directly linked to its iDrive8 system, for a truly comprehensive safeguard against any potential mishap.
