BMW M5 Overview
One of the sportiest cars to have ever rolled out from the German automaker, the BMW M5 is highly regarded for its reputation of a proper four-door sports saloon. The BMW M5 is currently in its sixth generation version, which is being offered in the Philippines in both of its variants – Standard and Competition.

BMW M5 Interior
Like the exterior design, the interior cabin of the BMW M5 mimics that of the regular 5-Series, barring a few minute styling differentiators and add ons. One can select from a range of upholstery and trim options, including single and dual-tone themes.
The typical three-spoke round themed multifunctional steering wheel usually found in M cars is here combined with a full TFT instrument console with coloured displays. This driver’s cockpit is then followed by a large and wide trapezoidal-shaped free mounted touchscreen infotainment system at the centre.
Below the touchscreen, the BMW M5 gets a hexagonal housing, with AC vents on the upper portion and a cluster of automatic climate control buttons below them. The transmission tunnel runs quite higher here till the rear seats and houses a range of buttons and the transmission lever.

BMW M5 Exterior
The BMW M5 is a proper wolf in sheep’s clothing, for the car is based on the rather humble 5-Series sedan in terms of its exterior design. The overall look of the M5 is exactly the same as the regular 5-Series, however, there are a few distinguishing elements to make it look a bit sportier.
The frontal stance of the BMW M5 gets the traditional double kidney grille, which can either be had with chrome or all black surrounds. This grille comes with vertical slats within it and gets the prominent M badge in the right portion of the grille. The horizontally laid headlamps flanking the edges of the grille do sport sleek looking all-LED headlamps as well as daytime running LEDs. The front bumper gets sporty air dams throughout it and is the major differentiator from the regular 5-Series.
The side profile of the BMW M5 looks exactly the same as the 5-Series, with the former getting larger alloy wheels with a range of sporty designs to choose from. The low slung stance is well complemented with rounded wheel arches and a thick character line flowing sideways.
At the back, the BMW M5 shares its set of LED tail lamps with the regular 5-Series, however, the bumper here is altercated with sporty design and quad exhaust pipes. Also, the boot lid too gets a very sleek black coloured spoiler integrated on it.

BMW M5 Ride & Handling
The BMW M5’s strongest trait has always been the fine prowess with which it handles, thanks to its wonderfully tuned chassis and suspension setups. The M-suspension comprising of wider front tracks, adjusted springs, variable damper control, and harder stabilizers, make sure the car remains planted at all speeds and inclinations of the surfaces. For the stopping power, the M5 gets top class ceramic brakes on the job.
-
BMW M5 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Both the variants of the BMW M5 get the same 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine under their hood. However, there is a difference in the power outputs of both the variants. While the standard M5 pumps out 600 PS of power, the Competition variant dishes out 625 PS of power. The torque output is common in both the variants at 750 Nm. An 8-speed automatic transmission too is common to both the variants.

BMW M5 Braking & Safety
Being a super-premium sports saloon, the BMW M5 gets a host fo safety features on offer, including front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors and reverse parking camera, hill descent control, heads-up display, parking assist plus, driving assistance plus, Night vision with person recognition system and dynamic stability control with three different modes.

BMW M5 Verdict
The BMW M5 has got that same unshakable reputation of being a perfect driver’s car in this latest iteration too, which gets even better in its Competition variant. The superb combination of a powerhouse in the form of a turbocharged V8 engine and the finely tuned chassis is its most priced possession.
